Nashville native Lauren Anderson found her love for baking while in college and took her first culinary position at Merridee’s Breadbasket Bakery & Restaurant in 2005. She later spent 5 years at the pastry department for campus dining at Vanderbilt University. There she learned to scale up her recipes and hone her skills before starting work at Berry Hill’s Sam & Zoe’s where she created their baked goods and other menu items for 7 years.
During one of her frequent trips to the West Coast, Lauren realized that her neighborhood needed a friendly and affordable donut shop. After long conversations with the owners of Sam & Zoe’s, she became the pastry chef for their new venture in East Nashville earlier this summer. Lauren now creates the brioche and cake donuts at East Park Donuts & Coffee with an eye towards keeping the menu interesting as she continues to discover new and exciting ways to express herself in the kitchen.
