Originally from Rives, TN, a rural area in Northwest Tennessee, Chef Jason McConnell grew up in the kitchen. While traveling with the family horse training business, he had the opportunity to eat his way around the Southeast. McConnell soon moved to Oxford, MS to attend the University of Mississippi, where he graduated with a Degree in Political Science, headed in the direction of law and politics. Jason next headed to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Upon graduation, he moved back to Tennessee and opened Red Pony Restaurant in 2006, Sol Restaurant 2007, 55 South 2010, McConnell House in 2011, and Cork & Cow in 2012. When he isn’t traveling with his wife and two children, McConnell spends most of his time hunting or fishing on his farm in Middle Tennessee.
