A native of South Korea, Chef Park grew up a world traveler living in places such as Malaysia and Switzerland prior to moving to the States. Park was first exposed to the restaurant business while working at his parent’s restaurant in Anchorage, Alaska. After graduating from business school, he moved to Seattle with his wife Han and quickly discovered Pike Place Market. He then found the space that became Bacco Cafe (upstairs) and later Chan (downstairs).
While operating Bacco, Park also attended culinary school at the Art Institute in Seattle specializing in French and Italian cuisine. He opened Chan in 2012 which has garnered immediate and sustained praise from critics and diners alike. Park has gone on to win a Rising Star Award from StarChefs for Sustainability in 2015. Chan remains as the only modern Korean gastropub in Seattle as well one of the top places to dine downtown.
