Chef & Co-Founder, The Grilled Cheeserie Melt Shop + Food Trucks

Crystal De Luna-Bogan, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Learning from a very young age her love for cooking and comforting people with food she was enrolled in Le Cordon Bleu, Pasadena at age 17 and has been hustling her way through professional kitchen ever since. Her passion for using seasonal ingredients blossomed throughout her extensive culinary background including such fine-dining restaurants in Southern California as Napa Rose, The Four Seasons Hotel Beverly Hills and Clementine Cafe & Bakery, has helped mold her into an elite chef with a developed understanding of flavor profiles.

Relocating to Nashville in 2011 with her husband Joseph they missed aspects of the Los Angles dining scene with a then growing food truck movement and decided to start The Grilled Cheeserie food truck in a non existent Nashville food truck scene in 2012. The Grilled Cheeserie serves up gourmet grilled cheese melts and nostalgic treats featuring seasonally inspired, responsibly sourced products. Now a melt shop, they have expanded their melt menu utilizing even more southern cheese makers, local farms and seasonal ingredients and have added a very hyped Milkshake Bar to the equation still staying true to their seasonally inspired, responsibly sourced model.

They also view their business as a platform to help educate people on the importance of knowing where your food comes from. Joseph and Crystal’s hard work was rewarded when The Grilled Cheeserie was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Crystal exercised her extreme competitive spirit on Guy’s Grocery Games in the “DDD” Chefs on “GGG” tournament cooking her way to final roundon the The Food Network. They were also featured on The Cooking Channel’s Eat St., voted Best Food Truck in The Nashville Scene and The Tennessean 6 years running, and were listed #3 Mobile-Cuisine’s 2015 Top 10 Most Influential Food Trucks #7 on thedailymeal.com’s 101 Best Food Trucks in America in 2015, and were just honored with the 2016 Chairman’s Award for Small Businesses by the Nashville Business Incubation Center.
