Claire Meneely never intended for Dozen Bakery to make it this long, but what started as a temporary, holiday cookie pop-up has grown into a beloved Nashville bakery.
After leaving her hometown for college and culinary training, she returned to Nashville in 2009 and saw an opportunity in the baking community. In the last three months of that year, she rented commercial kitchen space and launched a cookie pop-up focusing on quality products made from as many organic and local ingredients as she could source. Thanks to a strong word-of-mouth popularity, some well-timed press, and finding the greatest help, Dozen Bakery has become much more than just a seasonal endeavor.
Today, Dozen Bakery has found a home in the Wedgewood Houston but hasn’t strayed far from its roots of providing the highest-quality product made from as many organic and locally-sourced ingredients as possible. With support from an ever-growing team, the bakery continues to offer an expanding, rotating assortment of fresh breads and pastries as well as savory breakfast and lunch options during the week and a weekend brunch. In addition, Dozen supplies daily pastries and breads to over 25 Nashville coffee shops and restaurants contributing to Claire’s favorite part – the idea that everything made today is enjoyed today – by people all over the city.
