SILO, the restaurant that brought farm-to-fork to Germantown, announces the hiring of Chef Alex Grainger who brings 15 years of high-end kitchen experience to the Nashville culinary scene. Originally from Naples, Florida, Alex was the Executive Chef at Blue Water Bistro before moving to New York to hone his craft. He was most recently Chef de Cuisine of The Left Bank in Manhattan where his daily routine began with a trip to the Union Street Greenmarket, gathering the bounty that made up his menus.
SILO owner Clay Greenberg says of SILO’s new chef: “Alex brings all the right ingredients to the table. He’s a Southern boy who cut his teeth in the toughest restaurant town in the country… and made it. He has a classical background, which is a must, yet he regularly tries new things, new ideas.”
“Great Southern cuisine isn’t so different from French bistro cooking,” says Grainger. “They’re both ingredient-focused and all about proper technique. I like to keep it simple, using great ingredients only adding what is necessary to bring out their best flavors.”
Chef Alex pledges to continue the ethos of what SILO is know for – excellent food made from quality, regionally-sourced products, adding his own voice to the mix as SILO begins its 4th year.
